Donald Lang - Sax

Donald started playing saxophone at the age of 15 and was immediately addicted, he was mainly interested in modern jazz and grew up listening to Stan Getz, Paul Desmond, Dave Brubeck, Miles, Trane, Stitt, Bird and many, many others.

Initially playing with big bands in and around Falkirk, he started fronting his own ensembles playing jazz standards and gradually introducing more rock and fusion including Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and the Brecker Brothers.

Donald spent a period practicing eight hrs a day, seven days a week after graduating with a GRSC in chemistry. He then spent three months working in the south of France and performed a concert in Paris. He also spent six months in Copenhagen working with an originals funk and soul band. Donald was an early member of the Edinburgh-based reggae band Skanga, he performed with Tam White and the Dexters and then with the heavy rock band Trojan Horse. Donald also performed for Prince Charles at the future kings 40th birthday party.
