Tom Domagala - Saxophone & Flute

How do you get to Madison Square Garden?.... ask Blues Express sax player Tom Domagala because he has practised and he HAS played there!

Tom's great, soulful tenor saxophone playing delivers an emotional edge to a blues ballad, and adds real Rhythm & Blues bounce to our uptempo numbers.  The playing is tasteful yet moving, complex but accessible and gives the band a perfect complement to the vocal lines of Chris Lord.

Tom started playing at a young age, learning his craft at one of the top music schools in the Country with the Grenadier Guards at Kneller Hall.

Influenced early by John Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders and Archie Shepp, Tom found his way to the blues by listening and learning from the masters of the big tenor sound;  Red Prysock and King Curtis...but Tom doesn't copy - he has his own voice which perfectly suits the Blues Express style and it is well demonstrated on our demo tracks.

He has performed in Europe and the Far East, at Madison Square Garden and the Royal Albert Hall.  He has shared a stage recently with Matt Schofield, Krissy Matthews, Eddie "Blue" Lester and Son Maxwell....and ALWAYS delivers a top performance which is embraced by the audience.

True blues from a master, perhaps the best expression of Tom's playing is this excerpt from a review of the band; "Finally, in a band notable for their phrasing and instrumental voice, Tommy "The Gent" stood out as the finest tenor sax player I've ever heard in a small band. Or, I've ever heard. No scales, no wails, every note a soul note. Sums it up, neatly!"
